Pinky:St figure review

After almost a week of waiting, my Pinky:St figures have finally arrived! I've been thinking about them a lot this past week. For those of you who don't know what Pinky:St is, it's a Japanese brand of toys that are a few inches tall. You can swap their hair, heads, torsos, and legs. Most of them are statues and don't have any articulation. Also, most of them are stuck standing up. You have to buy specific ones in sitting poses if you want them to sit. And from what I've seen, the ones in the sitting poses also have shoulder articulation. (Don't take my word on that, I'm no Pinky expert). Pinky:St figures are discontinued, but you can still find them for around $10 USD on sites such as Amazon and Ebay. There are a few playsets that cost more. Figures that were made after anime characters also tend to be more expensive.

Enough of that! Let's get onto the review. (Warning: All these pictures are extremely half-assed and terrible) I haven't seen many reviews of Pinkies online, so I hope this will help answer any questions you have about them!

My girls and their alternate fashions that they came with.
(I kinda cut off some of their alternate fashions at the top, sorry)

The girl in all pink with the short hair (who looks surprisingly a lot like me!) has some... problems. Firstly, her head always comes off. Upon some closer inspection, I realized her neck peg is shorter than my other girls! She's from series 3, and my others are from series 6-8 and have longer necks. The hole on the back of her head is also shaped differently than my others.

Series 3 (right) and series 8 (left)

If you can't tell the difference in their neck sizes in that picture, I took another one.

The series 8 girl (who I named Jane) has an abnormally large head, too. It permits her from sharing her hair with some other figures, as shown in the picture below.

Jane's hair is large for my series 6 girl who I named Victoria, although she still looks okay in her hair. However, Victoria's hair is too small for Jane's head and there's a space where the pieces don't completely fit. Good one with that, guys. Speaking of fails, I practically died when I read the blurb that's on all the Pinky's cards.

Classic Engrish.

Here's how a Pinky's body works.

With my series 3 girl, who I named May.

You can remove the hair in two separate parts, and you can also remove skirts. Shoes, however, aren't removable. When the Pinky has its head on, you can also position it to look around. Top-heavy Pinkies with larger hair (such as Jane) or earlier ones with shorter necks (like May) have heads that fall off easier.

The Pinkies come with lots of teeny tiny accessories that could easily be misplaced, but some of the larger accessories were this bag/stuffed animal that came with my series 7 girl, Ayame, and a handbag that came with Jane. They both have problems, though. It's hard to fit Jane's handbag into the hands of my Pinkies, and Ayame's stuffed animal practically fell apart. Its head fell off, but you can just pop that right back in. One of its arms fell off, however, and I'll probably need to glue it back.

Sorry the arm that fell off is at such an awkward angle. It almost
looks like it could be part of the animal's tail.

Overall, Pinkies have their faults but are still cute figures to have out on display and make cute models for photos. I'll probably take some pictures of them outside when the weather gets nicer. It's spring but the weather is just TERRIBLE here. :/

I got these guys on sale for only around $5 and a half-ish bucks each with free shipping. If I'd paid full price for them, I'd probably be pissed because of the faulty accessories and just Jane's head in general. It falls off all the time and she can't even share hair with any of the other Pinkies. Maybe she can share hair with the other Pinkies from her series? I dunno. And when I first  got Victoria, she had some slight paint flecks visible on her face but I was able to remove that with a dab of nail polish remover.

The bottom line? I really like them. Sure, they aren't the GREATEST quality figures, but for the typical $10 price range they're nice. Besides, you get two outfits with them. What more could you ask for?

I'll end this post with a blurry picture of girlfriends Victoria and Ayame holding hands as best they can. :P

...Where are their mouths? Lmao

EDIT: I was finally able to get the head off my series 7 girl Ayame and her head is just a bit smaller than Jane's. She can't share hair with Victoria either, it's also too small on her. It kinda pisses me off because the whole point is that they can share everything, but they really can't if their heads are different sizes?? And Victoria's head is way smaller than everybody else's, too.
